Elle Evans, a sixteen-year-old girl, is popular and likes to party but has never been kissed. Things take a turn Elle never expected when she stumbles upon an attraction called the "kissing booth" during Carnival. There she suddenly finds herself face to face with the boy she has long been in love with - the brother of her best friend, Noah. Elle is then swept up in a romance with the coolest kid in school.

A lot better than I expected beforehand. That is mainly due to the feisty and spirited Joey King, who provides a pleasant viewing experience with her infectious interpretation of the lead role. Funny and light-hearted and above all less vulgar than other high school comedies often are.

Airy Netflix.
No idea why I even set this up, I was in the mood for a simple high school comedy and so this has become the choice. I knew it wouldn't be a real 'topper' but I did enjoy it quite a bit.
King plays nice and also knocks everyone out, because the other performances aren't bad, but don't match the enthusiasm that King radiates here. Story is not that exciting, and certainly not original, but is so light (especially in the beginning) that you quickly get through it. It does indeed take a little too long later, but that's not a bad thing.
Nothing exciting in terms of visual level, just a fun movie that looks good. Nothing wrong with it.

Of course you don't have to expect originality with this type of film and the Kissing Booth is also quite average in the plot. In addition, this is an "inclusive" film, where everyone matters and random homosexuals fly through the screen, just to show that the makers care.
Movies like this are mainly about enthusiasm. With Joey King at the helm, it's hard not to get excited as she plays her part with gusto. The film also has a very cheerful vibe and there are parties everywhere and there is fun. You could almost say it's too perfect. But because you see that everyone has a lot of fun with the film, the Kissing Booth is a nice place to sit and this is just a nice film for the target group and fans of the coming of age or high school genre. Netflix is in any case strong in producing these types of films and series.
I had more fun with it than the first viewing 2 years ago, but this film had to be revised because of part 2.
