The Dark plot
"Your worst fear is your only hope."
Young Mina is murdered and then turns into an undead. She wanders in the woods near her parental home where she feasts on meat and thus takes on the role of murderer herself. When she meets the abusive boy Alex, she doesn't feel the urge to kill him. However, the decision to let him live makes her very existence questionable.

The Dark is a film with a lot of feeling and emotion. There's certainly horror, but it's not an over-the-top slash with blood and excessively gruesome images. A very decent film that won't bore you for a second. Highly recommended.

I was seriously disappointed. A rather dull story that has more dramatic elements than horror.
A nice premise, but weak in execution. The dramatic plot never captivated me, and that's precisely what this film relied on. 4/10

A mediocre slow burner that should pack a punch with its heavy themes, but the dreary childish drama takes over, and that's precisely the film's biggest flaw; child actor Toby Nichols (Alex) can't carry his part. Moreover, the drama remains very flat. The underlying story is more interesting than the actual story, which unfolds predictably and can't distinguish itself from similar films. It's the type of film that's still eagerly appreciated, but it's probably time for the genre to show some teeth again. This is so dull.
