Bomb City plot

"The more I see of man, the more I like dogs."

In 1997 in Texas, we follow Brian Deneke, a big fan of punk music, who puts on shows with his friends at a venue known as Bomb City. The group of friends refuses to conform to the conservative environment. Their appearance and ideas are causing social unrest within the community, especially between the so-called 'white-hatters', led by Cody Catesen, and the punks. It soon comes to a conflict that sets in motion a series of enemy confrontations.

Reasonable film in which a group of punks come face to face with a group of students. Dark in tone and based on a tragic true story. Although the build-up is clear and works towards a big showdown, the tension of this is only felt during the last part. The film is somewhat monotonous for this. Not a bad directorial debut from Jameson Brooks.

Dark film that unfortunately is based on the truth. Film actually fascinated me from the start, many beautiful shots and everything passes in a daze of alcohol, drugs and violence. Gloomy atmosphere and the tension is palpable from the start. Furthermore, an extremely dark score that completes the picture.

Marilyn Manson too with a fitting lock that hits the nail on the head.

Strong acting performances and a decent debut for Brooks. Recommended as far as I'm concerned.

Nice movie about punks in a conservative southern American city. Yes, you can't be yourself there...

The film is set in 1997 (although you hardly see anything of it (except for the lack of social media and smartphones)) and we start in a court where a group of punks have to confess a story. We know how that goes. But what had happened?

The movie looked good, that's for sure. It created a sultry atmosphere and the locations of a small town always want to work. The punks in question live like nomads. Most of them skateboard down the big country roads from place to place... on to a new squat. And that didn't go down well here. We also focus on the opposing team where life is mainly determined by Rugby. And then, of course, the police, who have zero tolerance for the punks and turn a blind eye to his community.

In the end we are slowly heading towards a confrontation that is irrevocable afterwards.

Yes, as I said, it looked nice, but in the end it was not very innovative and it tends to take its course slowly. The acting, on the other hand, is convincing and the many beautiful images are the calling card, making this film a great effort.

3.0*
