The Boy with the Topknot plot
Growing up in a traditional Punjabi family in Wolverhampton, Sathnam is the first in his family to go to university. He builds a very different life in London and excels as a columnist for The Times. He lives with his English girlfriend Laura and keeps this life very separate from what he has in Wolverhampton. He cannot bring himself to tell his family that he will be the first to marry outside the very close-knit Sikh community.
