This comedic animated film tries too hard to make the audience laugh with the many slapstick situations and the exaggerated facial expressions of the characters. In his role as the television producer who accidentally stumbles upon a Yeti, James Corden even has to stoop to making a pointless, musical rape of "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie. Despite the singing talent present, the songs are quite weak anyway. But Smallfoot does have good moments, especially when we hear the difference between what is said and what the other person hears. The enthusiastic voice performances also make up for a lot.

Innocent mediocrity. It's nice how the 'cultural differences' between humans and yetis are magnified in how both species can't speak the same language. For the young target group, it has a nice message about prejudices and that not everything should be thrown onto the world wide web. It's a shame that the obligatory musical intermezzos fall short, those poppy songs on auto-pilot without rhythm or feeling. There would certainly have been a better film in 'Smallfoot' (2018) if it (á la Pixar) had focused less on the safe path, but just a great film to watch with the little ones.
