Decent debut. The combination of coming of age and horror sometimes reminded me of Grave, but where that film leaned more towards the horror side than the drama side, this film is the other way around. It is not a film that necessarily reinvents the genre and you should not expect many original themes, but there is plenty for the enthusiast. The acting is good, a few visually strong scenes and Mia's transformation is quite sick. Just a very solid coming of age film with some raw, dark edges. Small 3.5*.

Mwa.

Film that once again comes up with the intention of a realistic film with an imaginative undertone. For a long time, Blue My Mind feels like a pure drama film with a young teenager in the leading role who gradually discovers more and more about herself. Ultimately, however, the film chooses to run it as a whole.

I just found it difficult to really empathize with the characters, as I could never really take the environment seriously despite the fairly realistic look. It simply doesn't feel like these people are suddenly interacting with each other at the snap of a finger. In addition, all conversations proceed in the same, distant manner. It's sad, but I don't see any purpose in it.

Furthermore, classical direction. The tone is striking and the acting is above average, but not often something is done that allows you to see the director as talented. Much of the power of this film comes from the writing. The presentation of this on the silver screen is never really strong, and that is a shame, because it is certainly not a drama in terms of content.

Afterwards I just couldn't do much with it. A film that is accessible to a limited audience, but I am clearly someone who finds it too difficult to understand the structure of the film. It's not boring, there is always a mysterious shade present to push it forward as a whole, but other than that I didn't think it had much to offer that was unique.

Or: the growing pains of a depressed teenager disguised as fairytale body horror. Not equally successful everywhere and the film suffers from a predictable structure of plot and characters, but the strong performance of lead actress Luna Wedler and a number of bizarre, surreal moments make up for a lot. Nice ambiguous ending too.
