The Day I Met El Chapo tells the biographical account of Mexican actress Kate del Castillo about her encounter with the infamous Mexican drug lord El Chapo while he was the most wanted drug lord in the world. El Chapo hid in the Mexican jungle after his escape from prison. No one knew where he was staying, but actor Sean Penn caught the attention of the world by coming out of nowhere with an interview with El Chapo. The interview took place in the utmost secrecy and Del Castillo was also present. She had made contact with El Chapo. Kate del Castillo shows in this documentary series how it all started and why she was willing to listen to the life story of one of the most controversial narcotics figures and what happened next.
