Tried this one and watched it without expectations and it wasn't bad, but not much more either. Not such a bad story, but the execution could perhaps have been a bit better.

The cast didn't do too bad and it looked good.

The extras on the DVD weren't worth mentioning either.

A somewhat unusual film because of the subject. Not very everyday, but the pity is that it is all rather poorly developed.

It even goes so far that we only find out who the father of little Vivo is through a tattoo? The film wants a bit too much, especially the subplot with Wim Willaert and his beloved Said is a miss for the movie. Also, everyone has to have a thick Santa Claus beard to apparently be a credible fisherman.

Coulier wants to do too much in a short time and his film therefore suffers from a slight identity crisis. It would have been better if it had just been about fishing. Why are things so bad, how is the fishing done, how do they sell, how do they deal with competition? How do they view their father so that his death would have had more impact. Now the poor wretch lay in a hospital bed for half a movie, trying to breathe.

It's a shame that the film no longer sticks to the core instead of telling unnecessary side stories. There certainly could have been more to this.

Stubbornness and rigidity of men living from fishing caught in the picture, stuck in the old patterns, perhaps most clearly visible in the group of men who reminisce about old stories at the father's deathbed. Sad, trapped in their own problems, barely able to communicate. Good actors could have had a little more depth.
