Menashe plot
"There's nothing orthodox about him."
The story is set within the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community of Brooklyn. He wants Menashe, a widower, to remarry as soon as possible. But he can't imagine a future with another woman and turns his nose up at all the aspiring brides sent to him. Because he does not earn enough to do the household himself, his uncle proposes to raise his son Rieve in his place. However, Menashe will fight for custody of the lad.
