Excellent animation film with a few witty dialogues and an excellent voice role by Michelle Pfeiffer. Just a pity about the rather moralizing story and the downright ugly CGI monsters. That gave the film a rather unfinished atmosphere. However, I was not bored.

3 stars.

Great cartoon (with unnecessary CGI as far as I'm concerned) about the legend Sinbad.
Simple, but very smooth and adventurous story about a pirate gang whose boss Sinbad is faced with difficult choices by the goddess Eris and plays a kind of devil game with him.
I liked the drawing style, but the monsters that Eris sent to Sinbad did not fit in this style at all and often just didn't look nice. With that kingfisher, I felt like I was watching a failed Pokemon.
Voicecast was fine & the soundtrack very nice.

3.5*.

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is a fun and entertaining animation film.

I think the story told in the film is well thought out. Eris's diabolical plan is actually pretty well put together. Eris comes across very well as a femme fatale. The romance between Sinbad and Marina comes to life. Sinbad himself is a nice character and his character change (or rather his rediscovery of his actual character) is well represented. Actually every character (including the smaller roles) can be called successful.

The more serious scenes are interspersed with humor and some good action scenes. The movie has a lot of momentum. But the film has enough rest points so that it doesn't feel too rushed. The humor in the film is well put together and well dosed.

Except for the kingfisher in the middle of the movie, I think the whole movie is very nicely animated. The musical accompaniment comes from Harry Gregson-Williams and he does a good job.

All in all, I think Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is a pretty successful film.

4.0*
