Not a crazy remake.

Although I have not seen the original, something tells me that the film is much better. And probably very different.

Yet this, unfortunately for me last, Elvis movie (I've seen them all now) is not crazy at all. With thanks to Bronson and a supporting role for Asner. In any case, a cast that the king had to do without in many films. Pelvis himself is also looking forward to his strangling contract here. He's certainly not at his worst.

The songs, however beautiful, do not fit into the film and therefore come across as rather forced. The boxing is quite variable in quality.

Reasonable.

Elvis as a boxer. It is now noticeable that he does not have such a muscular body for that. And that was already critical when the film was released. Well, it was also not an option to prepare for a few months for such a film that was quickly recorded. This is not about method acting, but about cashing in the end.

Still, well entertained. It's drama with a touch of action, humor, romance and camp. Elvis is assisted here by a star cast, which is not always the case in his films. It is especially enjoying the contribution of Charles Bronson. His presence lends credibility to the whole story. Elvis songs are fine otherwise. There are not that many so the storyline is not interrupted too much. Director Phil Karlson was already known to me for his film noirs and this Kid Galahad was part of his plan to break through as A directors, which never really took off.
