Two days in the life of Saul Auslander, a Hungarian prisoner who works as a member of the Sonderkommando in one of the crematoria of Auschwitz. He tries to do the impossible: save the body of the boy he adopted as a son and find a rabbi to bury it. While the Sonderkommando could be liquidated at any moment, Saul turns away from the living and their plans of rebellion to save the remains of a son he never looked after while alive.

Impressive, a film that gets under my skin, not only because of the camera work, but also and above all because of the claustrophobic environment (which of course doesn't even come close to reality). Wonderful role by Géza Röhrig, who has just the right face for this (reminded me of Jim Caviezel at times).

Good.

A very depressing movie filmed in a style that I like. Reminds me a bit of Utøya 22. July . Only this one was not recorded in 1 take. Nevertheless, I find it quite impressive what they can do with 1 hand-held camera.

A rather raw and depressing film, which is not always easy to follow in the beginning. I just couldn't quite concentrate on the images that flew by. Rohrig's face fits the film perfectly, by the way, and the opening scene is one of the strongest war openings I've ever seen.

But towards the end, the film is very menacing and tense. Compliments to the director for making such a threat with a handheld camera. 3.5* because it was not always easy to follow.
