Trainwreck plot

"We All Know One."

Ever since she was a little girl, it's been stamped into Amy's (Amy Schumer) head by her father (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn't realistic. Amy is now a magazine writer and enjoys an uninhibited life, free from suffocating, dull and romantic involvement. In reality, though, she's in some sort of rut. When she starts a new article for the magazine, she begins to feel a thing for the subject, the charming and successful sports doctor Aaron Conners (Bill Hader).

Bad.

Annoying film that never really gets going and should have been a lot shorter. The longer it lasts, the worse it gets.

Amy Schumer is annoying, even when her character should get a little likeablity.

An occasional grin with John Cena in the beginning, and that was about it for me.

Quickly forgotten.

“I like you, Amy. You're clever but you're not too brainy. You're prettyish but you're not too gorgeous. You're approachable.”

Trainwreck is a comedy where the joke density is very high in the beginning, only to level off a bit towards the end, giving precedence to the almost obligatory drama and "everything will end well". Schumer's crude humor is a bit hit and miss, unfortunately with more misses than winners in this film.

The sex scenes are painfully unfunny and with her crude and sometimes vulgar humor Schumer wants to shock, but all she achieves is that the fun wears off quickly. Bill Hader is strong in a more subdued role, and Colin Quinn, Brie Larson and even LeBron James are also on a roll and all have their funny moments. Actually, everyone in this movie is funnier than Schumer (even John Cena), and that can't be the intention.

Amy Schumor. You've got to love it.

The crude humor is still funny in the beginning, but to get that now the very long running time starts to get on my nerves halfway through the film.

If I do something else in the meantime and therefore follow the film with half an eye, it has not held my attention at all.

A bit too flat, too long and too boring for my taste.
