"There is no evil in a doctor's scalpel"

Three children disappear and suddenly reappear three days later in some sort of autistic state. No one, not even the children, knows what happened to them in the meantime. The police start an investigation and everyone in the town becomes suspicious. They all start their own parallel investigation. The main suspect is the children's teacher who only makes himself more suspicious when he tries to convince the school psychologist that the children were actually murdered.
