Part 2.
The first part was already very mediocre, but those first parts of this kind of franchise often benefit from the setup of the setting. What you don't know is still potentially good and the first film also had some potential in that area.
That's something this second film couldn't count on. Can't say I could remember a whole lot from the first part, but luckily I don't have to. Movies like this are pretty obvious, who is the good buy and who is the bad guy is rarely a mystery and there is rarely much nuance. The sci-fi concepts also offer very little to sink your teeth into.
The film doesn't have to rely on good acting either. Shailene Woodley is a dramatic actress, the rest isn't much better really. Fortunately there is still some action in it and the effects are interesting enough in themselves. Far from enough to make a successful film, not least because it lasts two hours, but it could have been worse.

So far, this series is fine. Had the first part already increased by half after revision, I saw this film for the first time but I quite enjoyed it.
I read a lot that the film is compared to the 'Hunger Games' films, but I like this series significantly better. Although I found Woodley less convincing than in the first part, the rest of the cast was fortunately largely the same so that the film could pick up right where the first part left off.
I could take the story a little less seriously, there are a lot of coincidences and improbabilities here. Strangely enough, it once again captivated me, although I must say that visually it is also fine.
I am curious about the third part, for this second part I also award three stars.

Nothing special in my eyes. I only watched the movie out of curiosity. The story is thin and not very telling. After a reasonable first part, a major setback.
