Dagboek van een Postduif plot

Diary of a Carrier pigeon tells about the life of Toontje, a Dutch racing pigeon who ends up with a Chinese millionaire in Beijing from his pigeon fancier from Groningen. On the way to his own loft, the best pigeon of the High North likes to be seduced by the nesting behavior of the world on the ground. It is no different in China, but Toontje irrevocably gets lost and pays a high price. This film is told from the perspective of a pigeon.

Why the poor rating here? That's quite a surprise. It's a documentary about the racing pigeon world, but seen from the pigeon's perspective. And that's quite creatively conceived. But it also gives a glimpse into what it's like there. There are quite a few pigeon fanciers near where I live, and you see those pigeons circling. But beyond that, I didn't know much about it until now. And now I understand it all better. And especially why so much money is made with pigeons in China. So why pigeons can also be so valuable. That was always a complete mystery to me. How can you make so much money back from a pigeon? That last point, in particular, is clearly illustrated in this documentary. Although there is also a sad side for the pigeons, and that too is beautifully presented here. So it's not just an enjoyable documentary with an interesting story and beautifully filmed. But I also get answers to questions I've had for a long time.
