Lewis Hamilton says he would love to give acting a go on a consistent basis.
The Brit is one of the most successful motorsport drivers of all time and has won seven world championships, a record he currently holds alongside Michael Schumacher.
He holds the records for the most wins, pole positions, and podium finishes in F1.
Hamilton has always held high-profile interests away from the sport too, though, such as fashion. And, he wants to feature on the big screen, too.
“I’m fascinated by it, I really am. I would love to try it one day but I’m very conscious of the fact that it takes ten thousand hours to master something," the F1 star said of acting in an interview with Deadline.
“I’m very stubborn. If I’m going to do something, I want it to be really good. I don’t have to be the best at everything, necessarily, but I know how much hard work these actors have put in. I don’t want to be one of those celebs that just moves into a different field and thinks he can easily do it.
“I’ve always been into movies, I watch a lot, and I find it a real escape. There are a lot of movies I find inspiring and I’ve always dreamed of one day doing something in this space. The question was often asked whether I would act.
“I’ve been very fortunate to be an F1 driver so I never really had time to dedicate to the craft of acting but a dream of mine has been to story-tell."
Hamilton and Brad Pitt to team up for new movie
Hamilton is a producer and advisor on a new movie starring Brad Pitt and directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joseph Kosinski.
It tells the story of a veteran driver who comes out of retirement to act as a mentor to a younger star, while also aiming to reclaim glory for himself. Pitt recently took to the track at the British Grand Prix as part of the filming.
A press release from Apple Studios confirmed that they had beat off competition to land production rights.
"Apple Studios has landed the sought-after Formula One racing feature from Joseph Kosinski, Plan B Entertainment and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, starring Academy Award winner Brad Pitt ('Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood').
"Kosinski ('Top Gun: Maverick') is set to direct, and will produce the feature alongside seven-time Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, Plan B Entertainment ('World War Z'), Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films ('Top Gun: Maverick,' 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise).
"Brad Pitt stars as a driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie driver against the titans of the sport.
"The film is produced by Bruckheimer and Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Kosinski, Mercedes driver and seven-time Formula One champion Hamilton, and Plan B Entertainment. Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer. Ehren Kruger ('Top Gun: Maverick') writes the screenplay."
