Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have split after 27 years of marriage.
The pair first met on the set of the Australian TV show Correlli in 1995 and got married a year later in Melbourne. They have two adopted children together; a son born in 2000 and a daughter born in 2005.
This week, they announced their separation with a statement that reads:
"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.
"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.
"This is the sole statement either of us will make."
Jackman returns as Wolverine in Deadpool 3
Jackman has played Wolverine since the first X-Men movie, which was released in 2000. He went on to play the character in various movies including Logan, in which the character died. He said afterwards that he believed his time donning the claws was over.
Then, his pal Ryan Reynolds asked him to return as Wolverine for the upcoming Deadpool 3.
Allegedly, the only plot device that would have catalysed Jackman's return was the promise of finally hooking up on-screen with the Deadpool everyone knows and loves after the disaster that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 is currently on hiatus due to the ongoing actor and writer strikes in Hollywood.
