Diederik Ebbinge has been a great admirer of talk shows since his early years. His drive in combination with his experience as a viewer has been the inspiration almost daily in recent years to chase a dream. A dream that has now finally come true with its own Late Night Talk Show Promenade: a journalistic, opinion-forming and informative program with analysis, interpretation and a unique mix of opinions.

Een fractie beter dan 't eerste seizoen. Zo krijgt het format iets meer vaste vorm en kan het zodoende effectiever worden ingezet. Op die manier haakt 't bonte meningencircus scherper in op zowel de actualiteit als dat 't ontwricht met anticlimaxen en absurdistische wendingen. Nog meer impliciete en expliciete verwijzingen. Nog sterker geschreven. Nog meer fan service rond dingen die in 't vorige seizoen zijn geïntroduceerd. Sowieso weet het zomerthema op een leuke manier verwachtingen te scheppen over een grote nazomershow. Zo één met hawaii blousejes, Spedo's en een begeerlijke assistente in bikini. En toch is er die immer donkere wolk van social distancing en de nertsenproblematiek, die de personages weg proberen te lachen met hun luchtige nikserigheid. Desalniettemin vooral het seizoen waarin Eva Crutzen en Ton Kas punten scoren met ontwapenend sterke muziekcovers. Het ene moment een hysterische bulderlach en het volgende een brok in de keel. 'Promenade' is een totaalshow in de geest van de betere kleinkunst en toch perfect getimed op een manier zoals alleen fictie dat kan.

And yet there is that ever dark cloud of social distancing and the mink problem, which the characters try to laugh away with their light-hearted nothingness. Nevertheless, especially the season in which Eva Crutzen and Ton Kas score points with disarmingly strong music covers. One moment a hysterical roar and the next a lump in the throat. 'Promenade' is a total show in the spirit of the better cabaret, yet perfectly timed in a way that only fiction can.
