Tjockare än Vatten plot
Anna-Lisa Waldemar runs a popular family pension on the beautiful island of Sunnanö in the Swedish archipelago with her son Oskar. Unbeknownst to her, she invites his brother Lasse and sister Jonna to the season opening. Oskar is barely recovered from this shock when his world collapses: Anna-Lisa is found dead and her will contains strict provisions for the three children. During the whole season they have to run the guest house together, otherwise they will inherit nothing at all. It is her last attempt to reunite her children.

Atmospheric Swedish drama series, with, of course, the necessary family secrets in the background. Beautifully filmed and excellently played, especially by the three lead actors. Could have been told a little more smoothly here and there, but compelling and entertaining enough. But if there was a need for a second season...

A step back, this third season.
Even though quite a few improbable things happen - such as the two nieces who kill Georg - there is in any case a decent portion of tension present.
Unfortunately, that happens in a very different atmosphere than in previous seasons.
For example, there is the setting that looks completely different. Of course the burned down hotel made that necessary, but the alternative lacks the charms of the past.
Furthermore, the attention for part of the Waldemars shifts to the Rosén family. But where the characters of the Waldemar family were well developed, that hardly happens with the Rosén brothers; and the distance with the viewer remains much greater.
What bothered me the most: Lasse and Jonna, fascinating characters in the first two seasons, are now portrayed very one-sidedly. Van Lasse, as ex-prisoner, can still understand that a bit, but Jonna disappears completely into the background - traumatized and haunted by the spirit of her deceased mother[/ spoiler].
And then, the final episode, that's pie without icing; and actually not even a cake. Way too easy, way too fast: Lasse confronting Tom with his brother's lies, and immediately after the conflict between the brothers...
Season 3: Lots of potential, little done. Was it expensive to go to ten episodes, like in previous years?
And besides: what about Liz ? What about Georg's death? Is Mikael dead? Lots of unanswered questions.
I hope there will be a fourth year, but then again at a higher level.
