The lives of the wealthy Hamilton family and the working-class Palmer family are full of dramatic incidents. The families are linked by a secret affair between David Palmer and Patricia Hamilton. This affair resulted in twins consisting of John Palmer and Angela Hamilton. They are both secretly adopted by the family they are named after.
