Late 1950s. Oriana Fallaci is at the beginning of her career, working as a reporter for the Italian weekly L'Europeo. It is during this time that Fallaci turns her first trip to the United States into a unique opportunity, during which she meets extraordinary characters and paints a sharp, often raw and ironic portrait of American culture and the reality behind the glamorous facade of Hollywood. These years are also marked by deep personal turmoil, including an intense and difficult relationship with fellow journalist Alfredo Pieroni. This relationship, full of passion but also insecurities and fears, eventually drags Fallaci into a spiral of self-destruction.
