A Farewell to Arms plot

During World War I, American officer Frederick Henry becomes involved in Italy with British nurse Catherine Barkley. When Frederick has to return to his unit from Milan, Catherine tells him she is in position. After Frederick's return from the front, the couple travel together to neutral Switzerland to await the birth. However, the child is stillborn and the mother dies shortly afterwards.
