First-class four-part documentary, surprisingly well put together by actor/director Fisher Stevens. There is plenty of beautiful archive material, of course, but what really makes this worthwhile are the candid, funny and sometimes moving interviews with the best man himself, as well as those with wife Victoria. No glossy, superficial promo package, but a compelling and fascinating portrait of a unique talent.

The first 2 episodes are well made and very extensive, in the 3rd episode they suddenly seem to be in a hurry and they start rushing things and leaving only half a box. Very sorry. Still, nice to see.

Enjoyed it too, especially the first half. A bit of The Last Dance of football, although Beckham is of course not a GOAT nor a big personality like Jordan.

But I do enjoy the trip down memory lane to football around the turn of the century, when I followed football more closely than I do now. The period of Man-U's treble, and then the Galácticos with Ronaldo, Zidane, Figo, Roberto Carlos... That is pure nostalgia for the football fan in me.

And because Becks also became such a phenomenon off the field and was together with a major pop star, it is also fun to relive 90s/00s pop culture. Just as the heyday of the Bulls in The Last Dance took me back to a time when I was growing up and America was still the place we modeled ourselves after in Europe.

I didn't really know much about the player Beckham, except that he had a great kicking technique. That's why I thought it was interesting to see again what he has accomplished, which is quite a bit. He did not have the level of Zidane or R9, but he was still one of the best of his time.

In addition, he is also a sympathetic, actually quite timid guy who you could describe as the ideal son-in-law. Well, except for that one slipper. In addition, he is not the most interesting personality to interview. The parts in between where he looks sheepishly into the camera or barely sheds a tear when it comes to his family... His modesty is to his credit, but it doesn't really provide much interesting material. Then I found the ruthless winner in Michael Jordan a more fascinating character to watch. Posh provides the necessary humor, but it all remains fairly superficial.

Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun with this throwback, although it all becomes quite patchy towards the end.
