These are caricatures, you know how they are going to react to situations and you know what they are going to answer, and yet you are still surprised every time by how extremely funny they are. Impossible to contain the laughter.
The strength of the series lies in the contrasts between the high-society attitude of Hyacinth on the one hand and her vulgar, socially low-budget family and the victims such as Richard, Emmett, Elizabeth and the vicar, not forgetting the postman.
Usually ends in a hilarious situation where appearances are not always saved.
