Influencers plot

In “Influencers” - in a humorous way - people try to profile themselves as trendsetters via social media. With that they make a not very successful shot at their own eternal #InstaFame on the internet. Their foolish attempts to please, the battle for record likes, the stupid boundaries they try to push, or the delightful emptiness of their existence will string these #funnysketches together.

Influencers season 1

Certainly not a high flyer, I said before. Honestly: I watched the series because it was crammed in between De Mol & Café De Mol on Sunday evening; in that respect it was a good move by VIER, although the viewing figures fell sharply after a few episodes.

So you can't exactly call Influencers a success, and the series is largely due to itself. The phenomenon this series is about doesn't interest me at all, but caricatures are often put down here, and then quite over the top. And you sometimes have those series where that just becomes a strength, but that is by no means the case here.

Of all the influencers, I thought Tjorvens World was a success, especially thanks to Tom Audenaert. Admittedly, I've laughed out loud several times with these skits. As a police officer André I also found him amusing, although that is a character that he put down before. Oh well, I'm just a fan of the man.

Andrew Van Ostade also caught my eye in a positive way. I knew him as a former band member of the Belgian band School Is Cool, but didn't know he was also an actor. Furthermore, as the Bomma, Rik Verheye could still count on an approving nod.

The rest .. Poverty trumps, as far as I'm concerned, sometimes even annoyingly unfunny. And don't you think de BV-follower is a shameless copy of the Man van Melle? I had the feeling with more characters that Bart De Pauw would get away with it a lot better, if only because of his way of playing.

A series to quickly forget. Hopefully the production house will pick up Koeken Trump! In the future, he will be out with beautiful series, because Bart De Pauw can't just lose his unmistakable talent, can he?
