Creature Commandos plot
Amanda Waller, the head of the government agency ARGUS, is no longer able to endanger human lives for her covert operations. Because this decision by the United States Congress puts an end to the Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker team, Waller has to come up with something else. She decides to put together another team, but this time one consisting of monsters, including Eric Frankenstein and the radioactive Doctor Phosphorus. General Rick Flag Sr. is given the task of leading the Creature Commandos and their dangerous missions.

Kicking off James Gunn’s DC Universe on a bold, unforgiving note, ‘Creature Commandos’ lives up to the demands and expectations of a tonally diverse approach to world-building, though the disparate character quirks inherent to Gunn’s filmmaking style can distract from the impact of the animation and emotional depth, while his impeccable sense of character development – particularly backstory – tends to overshadow even the lackluster main narrative. Bloody, violent, and unrelenting, the series sets a promising stage.
