1864 plot

1864 is the year in which the fiercely fought Second Dano-Prussian War was fought, with the Duchies of Schleswig and Holstein at its heart. It is about the unusual love triangle between the inseparable brothers Laust and Peter and their beautiful lover Inge. Carefree, the three children grow up together, until the war separates them and the two brothers go to war. 150 years later, in 2014, the antisocial Claudia is forced to take a job as a home help for a 100-year-old baron. She finds Inge's lost memoirs, and so we are told the poignant story of Peter, Laust and Inge. A story about impossible love and a forgotten war that changed their lives forever.

Normaal gesproken kijk ik niet zo vaak naar series. Het gegeven is dat het vaak allemaal te veel wordt uitgerekt. Dat kan ik van deze 1864 8 delen niet echt zeggen. De oorlog zoals zo velen kende ik niet. De oorlog die eigenlijk al eerder was begonnen. De vrede was ondertekend, maar dat was niet genoeg voor Denemarken en het leed begon opnieuw tot een afgrijselijke oorlog in 1864. Het heeft Denemarken vele levens geeist en de oorlog werd nu verloren en het deel werd nu volledig Duits De uitvoering van dit war and love spektakel is best goed in elkaar gezet, maar er zitten ook wel wat minnen in deze serie. Vooral in het begin stoorde ik mij aan het geschreeuw naar elkaar. De stemverheffingen moesten kennelijk het niveau verhogen, maar het irriteerde mij alleen maar. Een ander minpunten waren de lachsalvo's. Op commando kwamen de wel zeer witte steeds bij iedereen overdreven in zicht. Zag er in ieder geval niet naturel uit. Ook het huilen mocht beter geacteerd worden. Sowieso werd er soms allemaal iets te dik opgelegd. Maar de vechtscenes zagen er akelig goed uit. Vooral in het laatste gedeelte van de film. Ook de intriges met de baron met Inge en de rivaliteit met de jongens gaf een meerwaarde aan de film. En dan hebben we ook nog een stukje in het heden. Daar ben ik meestal niet zo'n fan van, maar slecht was het dan ook weer niet. Wel weer allemaal heel toevallig, maar goed het is dan ook een film. Muziek vond ik trouwens erg mooi. En fijn dat dit stukje geschiedenis is toegevoegd aan mijn geheugen.

Especially in the beginning I was annoyed by the yelling at each other. The raised voices were apparently supposed to raise the level, but it only annoyed me. Another negatives were the bursts of laughter. On command, the very white always came into everyone's view exaggeratedly. At least it didn't look natural. The crying could also be better acted. In any case, sometimes everything was imposed a little too thick. But the fight scenes looked awfully good. Especially in the last part of the movie. The intrigues with the baron with Inge and the rivalry with the boys also added value to the film. And then we also have a piece in the present. I'm not usually a fan of that, but it wasn't bad either. Again, all very coincidental, but hey, it's a movie. I really liked music, by the way. And nice that this piece of history has been added to my memory.

Meevaller. En ook interssant omdat voor mij althans de film wel wat openbaarde over de Deense geschiedenis. Romantisch drama en het dramatische in het verhaal wordt zonder twijfel uitgelokt door een waanzinnige oorlog waarvan in de eerste plaats grootheidswaanzin en onmenselijke stijfkoppigheid bij de Deense leiders de basis vormden. Enkele sterke scènes, zekerlijk met inbegrip van de keiharde gevechtstaferelen. Keurig getekende sociale toestanden, de maatschappelijke ongelijkheid, ondersteund met goede vertolkingen en begeleidende muziek. Een onderhoudende serie.

Romantic drama and the dramatic in the story are undoubtedly provoked by an insane war whose basis was primarily delusions of grandeur and inhuman stubbornness on the part of the Danish leaders.

Neatly drawn social situations, social inequality, supported with good performances and accompanying music.

An entertaining series.
