The Nilsen Files plot

Filmmaker Michael Ogden re-examines the Dennis Nilsen case. He asks why his victims are all but forgotten today and speaks with police officers who express regret about the premature closure of the investigation. In May 1983, after a three-month investigation and an overtime bill reportedly worth more than a million pounds, investigators in the case were told to close new leads. They had managed to identify five of the 16 young men Nilsen said killed, but Nilsen said there were nine more. Ogden investigates how media attention for serial killer Dennis Nilsen increased after his conviction.
