The Chameleon Killer plot

Deep in a forest in the US state of New Hampshire, the police discover barrels containing the remains of murder victims. The hunt for the serial killer responsible for these acts extends to California, and is being carried out by both police and amateur detectives. They must unravel a web of assaults and murders, all carried out by one man with many false identities.

Too bad I couldn't watch the 2 episodes closer together, because the somewhat chaotic set-up of this already complicated case doesn't help either. In any case, it remains an extremely bizarre case, which continues to culminate in an episode of Spoorloos.

I'm starting to wonder to what extent a number of victims and relatives are really helped with their emotional participation in something like this, and that over-enthusiastic (or is that 'just' American?) amateur snoop towards the end... well.

I am also going to have a look at the Terry Peder Rasmussen case myself. Here in the poster one he basically looks like a pretty normal young man, but his 2002 mugshot shows a lot different.

Finally: as understandable as the fear and the fleeing of the mother with the children was, she found Eric with cigarette burns... did she immediately report it... don't you think? ?
