Gacy lured boys and men to his house undetected for years, only to kill them. Most of his victims were male prostitutes, others Gacy had hired over time at his contracting company. None of the missing persons was very noticeable because the boys had often run away from home or led a nomadic life. Gacy himself saw his victims as scum and felt he had done the world a favor.
