Little Birds plot
Little Birds is set in 1955 Tangier, in the famous 'international zone' - one of the last outposts of colonial decadence and a culture shock in more ways than one for American Lucy Savage. Happy to escape her controlling parents, Lucy arrives expectantly for her wedding to her English betrothed, Lord Hugo Cavendish-Smythe, unaware that Hugo has already lost his heart to someone else. As Lucy fights for her independence and identity, her life becomes intertwined with Cherifa Lamour, a Moroccan dominatrix serving diplomats and foreigners, and the Egyptian aristocrat Adham Abaza.
