Jana of the Jungle plot

When little Jana takes a boat trip with her father on the river that flows through the rainforest of Venezuela, disaster strikes. The boat hits a rock and perishes. Jana and her father seem to have no chance of survival in the fast-flowing river. But Jana is lucky: she is rescued from the water by the Indian Montaro, the last survivor of his tribe. A search for her father yields nothing, and Jana begins a new life in the Amazon jungle. Montaro teaches her all about the jungle and as she gets older Jana befriends many animals and can even communicate with them.
