Das Boot plot
Das Boot, is a sequel to Wolfgang Petersen's 1981 anti-war classic. The series begins where the film left off. Set from the fall of 1942, it follows the events aboard a brand new German submarine during its first mission from occupied France. At the same time, the story is told of the family of the crew on land and that of the French resistance.

A series that started out so well ends disappointingly. It should of course be about U-boats and their crews and the battle at sea against Allied ships. In this last season that is hardly the case. It is about everything and anything: officers who are after each other's lives, the hunt for a mole called Fidelio, a not very credible connection with an American admiral, preparations for an attack on Hitler and even the Lebensborn program ('babies for Hitler') is discussed. Just imagine, a mess. The series fizzles out like a candle. A fifth season is no longer necessary for me.
