Every Year After plot

The story takes place in Barry's Bay, an idyllic lakeside village in Ontario, Canada. As a teenager, Persephone (Percy) Fraser spends six summers at her family's vacation home. There, she meets Sam Florek, the boy next door with whom she becomes inseparable. What begins as a friendship blossoms into an intense first love. Their relationship comes to an abrupt end due to a "big mistake" and a dark secret, after which Percy flees Barry's Bay and does not return for ten years. An unexpected phone call forces Percy to return to the lake, where she is confronted with Sam and the feelings that never truly disappeared.
