When Nazi Germany invaded Norway on April 9, 1940, Vidkun Quisling, leader of the Nasjonal Samling, staged a coup and declared himself prime minister. May 1945. As Germany is on the verge of capitulation, Vidkun Quisling and his ministers attempt to negotiate a peaceful transfer of power in Norway. Amid the unrest, Vidkun Quisling’s wife, Maria, is ready to fight and willing to die for her husband. In her eyes, he is a good man who deserves respect for his sacrifice for the Norwegian people.
