The Last Kingdom plot

The year is 872 and many of the individual Kingdoms, what we now know as England, fell during the invasion of the Danes. The Kingdom of Wessex led by King Alfred is on its own. Against this turbulent background, we see a Saxon nobleman and his son Uhtred of Bebbanburg. The boy is captured by the Danes and raised as one of their own. Where does his loyalty lie? Is he a Saxon or a Dane? Will Uhtred choose his native land or those who raised him? To regain his birthright, Uhtred must walk a perilous path between the two sides and plays an important role in the birth of a new nation.

Season 2 has now been completed. The first half of the season was slightly less than season 1 but the second half was great. What a great series this is!!!

It's a shame that season 3 is not available here on Netflix yet.

I have even read that a fourth season has also been ordered.

Always fighting to be taken seriously. Uhtred certainly hasn't had it any easier in the second season of "The Last Kingdom." His alliance with King Alfred remains fragile, while other nobles would rather eliminate him. This once again brings him into conflict between his own Viking morality and the oppressive Christian traditions. Tough and raw, but still hilarious. The large-scale battles are still a joy to behold. It also seems as if they've managed to capture the sad side of violence a little more effectively: the chaos and the senselessness. Ultimately, only the losers remain when good people are sacrificed for the greater good.
