Hey bah. After the downright brilliant S1 and S2 (both 5.0*) it slumped reasonably with S3 (4.0*), only to pick up nicely with S4 (4.5*). But this season was really awful. What a disappointment, this wonderful series now seems really killed.

The wonderful political games are gone, the actions of Frank and Claire no longer impress, the new main characters are really not fun (especially those Mark Usher and Miss Davis), the chemistry is gone, the developments are not that interesting anymore and sometimes even to the point of ridiculous.

Unfortunately. Three stars. Actually I only liked the first fifteen minutes of S05E01 and after that I spent the entire season hoping in vain that it would become something more. And I've been looking forward to that for half a year now. And that end too, come on. We can be happy with those first two wonderful seasons, really an addition to the TV series history, but it's just finished now. It will continue to be milked out for a while, but I don't expect anything more from it.

Not super excited, but I'm certainly not disappointed. Especially the first half of the season was all a bit more political and less thriller. It all went a bit too quiet, but the content was very strong again. As mentioned before, there are nice new characters around the corner, especially the character Mark Usher. That Campbell Scott, apparently I knew him from the Amazing Spider-Man movies, can act convincingly.

Nice that we get to see more of Claire again and that she even talks to the camera once . I think it's great that next season the focus will be more on her presidency. What an elegant woman. Kevin Spacey was another brutal boss.

Slightly less than last season, but definitely more interesting than the third season.

What the heck, terrible season, mediocre season????

People quickly forget quality and get spoiled through and through. Also in series apparently.

This is and remains top notch. And yes, some storylines could have been better, but what really couldn't be better are the acting, the setting, but especially the elaboration of the relationship between two narcissists. How only 'using' each other initially turns into 'abusing' each other. I mainly watch the series to follow that development. The political games/storylines are secondary to this. The strength of the series lies only in the interaction and the subcutaneous fight between two power-hungry men. Two deeply tragic individuals who see only power as happiness. And don't even give each other that power / want to steal it.

Come on, that's genius!
