Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life plot

The story picks up where it left off nine years ago. Lorelai's relationship with Luke has stalled, Rory struggles to get her career as a journalist in New York off the ground, and Emily is completely devastated by the unexpected death of her husband Richard. Everything comes back to life: the small diner on the corner, the beautiful Dragonfly Inn and the unique bond between mother and daughter.

It's a nice addition to the official series in itself. The cast is pretty much the same, pretty much everyone sees at least one episode. Edward Herrmann (Richard Gilmore) has received a nice 'tribute'. I'm glad they took the time and effort with this and didn't blame it on just 'he died'.

Yet it still doesn't feel like a closed chapter to me and that has to do with the ending. I already knew that Rory was pregnant when she talked to her father about single motherhood. This story should have been fleshed out if they wanted to see this as a conclusion. Obviously Logan is the father. Is she going to do it alone now or is she going to inform Logan and he will take responsibility? So I was quite disappointed after the last episode, only questions, no answers. The episodes last an average of 90 minutes, had enough time to work this out better.

All in all a nice ending to Gilmore Girls. Finally the long awaited wedding of Lorelai and Luke. I continue to find Michel a nice character, but together with Sookie the golden duo. Too bad this was very limited, but the moment they were together I found hilarious. By the end I don't get a good enough score, but a well deserved 3*.
