Vinyl plot

New York, 1970s. A ride through sex- and drug-related music at the dawn of punk, disco and hip-hop. The series is seen through the eyes of record executive Richie Finestra as he tries to keep his business and his soul and not destroy everyone in his path.

Elke aflevering van Vinyl komt werkelijk waar je huiskamer binnen denderen. New York Dolls-Personality Crisis . Richie Goes Full-On Bruce Lee . Fantastische cast, sterk acteerwerk en verhaallijnen waar je u tegen zegt. Ook wordt in elke aflevering de seventies-sfeer uitermate realistisch weergegeven. Pareltje! *****

What a wonderful yet really wonderful series this is! Every episode of

Vinyl really comes into your living room.

New York Dolls-Personality Crisis .

Richie Goes Full-On Bruce Lee.

Fantastic cast, believable performances, strong acting & a very

nice combination of drama/music. Also, in every episode shown

the seventies atmosphere very realistically reproduced.

Full 5 stars from me for 'Vinyl - Season 1 (2016)'.

Geen succes geworden, deze peperdure HBO-serie van producenten Martin Scorsese en Mick Jagger, maar dat zegt in dit geval niets over de kwaliteit. Vinyl is namelijk een bijzonder fijne televisieserie, vol kleurrijke personages, erg grappige dialogen en eersteklas muziek. En wat een mooi tijdsbeeld, geweldig. Kosten noch moeite zijn gespaard om hier iets moois van te maken. Jammer derhalve dat de stekker er na tien afleveringen uit is getrokken. Maar wel tien mooie afleveringen.

This very expensive HBO series from producers Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger did not become a success, but in this case that says nothing about the quality. Vinyl is a very fine television series, full of colorful characters, very funny dialogues and first-class music. And what a beautiful time frame, great. No expense has been spared to make something beautiful out of this. It's a shame that the plug was pulled after ten episodes. But ten beautiful episodes.

Een losgeslagen platenbaas. Sex en drugs. Misdaad. Muziek. Maffiatoestanden. Zware strubbelingen in het bedrijf. Relatieproblemen. Geweld. De zoektocht om een bedrijf te redden. Zich opwerken in een bedrijf. Het is een beetje van alles en nog wat, zonder een keuze te kunnen maken. Vinyl neemt teveel hooi op de vork, en gaat zo z'n doel voorbij: boeien en meeslepen, de 70's-sfeer ondergaan. Wat me misschien nog het meeste bij blijft, is dat dit best wel als een enorme aanklacht tegen druggebruik kan gezien worden. Een paar goeie acteur, een paar minder goeie. Cannavale is goed, Romano is heel goed, heerlijke stem heeft die kerel. En de muziek,... is wel oké, maar toch vrij veel, te veel, nadruk op een paar onbekende songs die de platenmaatschappij - en dus ook de serie - naar boven moesten duwen. Misschien wel met véél te hoge verwachtingen aan begonnen... In elk geval vind ik me grotendeels terug in wat beek0369 hier schrijft. Ook al kan je moeilijk een vergelijking trekken, van The Boat That Rocked heb ik veel meer genoten.

Crime.

Music.

Mafia conditions.

Heavy turmoil in the company.

Relationship problems.

Violence.

The quest to save a company.

Work your way up in a company.

It's a bit of anything and everything, without being able to make a choice.

Vinyl takes too much on the fork, and thus misses its target: to fascinate and be carried away, to experience the 70's atmosphere.

Perhaps what sticks with me the most is that this can be seen as a huge indictment of drug use.

Some good actors, some less good ones. Cannavale is good, Romano is very good, that guy has a wonderful voice.

And the music,... is okay, but still quite a lot, too much, emphasis on a few unknown songs that the record company - and therefore the series - had to push up.

Perhaps I started with far too high expectations... In any case, I largely find myself in what beek0369 here writes.

Even though it is difficult to draw a comparison, I enjoyed The Boat That Rocked much more.
