Dark Winds plot

Dark Winds follows two Navajo cops Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee in the Southwestern United States in the 1970s. As they search for clues after a gruesome double murder in a hotel room, they are forced to question their own spiritual beliefs and process the trauma of their past. Due to the lack of clues and witnesses, their task becomes more and more complicated.

A fascinating series set on the Navajo Reservation. I'm especially captivated by the Diné customs and traditions they showcase in the series. Of course, to us, it looks like hocus pocus, voodoo, or superstition. But in reality, that's what our traditions and beliefs are.

In this last season 3 I've seen, all the stops are pulled out. It's especially creepy.

Organized crime, murder, horror, medicine woman, love, traditions, etc.

The FBI also shows up again. Although I find her a bit too stubborn in her belief that she knows the Vine killer.

I think the acting is excellent. A quick glimpse of the recently deceased Robert Redford.

The setting is beautiful. I have no idea if the real reserve looks like this. But sometimes I get the creeps from this desolate environment. The 1970s atmosphere has been carefully created.

The camerawork is fairly standard, but done with love.

In short: a surprisingly good series and one of the best I've seen in 2025.
