Arcane: League of Legends plot

This series is based on the world where 'League of Legends' takes place, and zooms in on the genesis of two well-known heroes from this universe. In Runeterra, a world in this universe, lies the rich, utopian city of Piltover and the oppressed seamy in Zaun. Throughout Runeterra, these cities are known for harboring many brilliant minds who can call these cities their home. The delicate balance that exists between Piltover and Zaun threatens to be disturbed when 'hextech' is created: it allows each person to control magical energy.

A very pleasant surprise, this large-scale animation series based on a computer game unknown to me. The intelligent, mature approach to both characters and story quickly pays off and the quality of animation is truly unparalleled. It all looks really fantastic, with great attention to detail and beautiful use of color. The voice cast is also top-notch. After the intense climax of episode three, the series struggles to get going again, but gradually the tension is nicely built up again, especially towards the spectacular end. I think there could be a second season of this.

The first series since Marianne to change one's top 10. Is simply of an intensity and emotionality that you almost never see. And I don't even care much for the world of LoL. Wonderful ride.

Non-stop tension, emotion, beautiful music and images in a story that is just deep enough for the setting. And strong (female) lead roles. This is also a gem apart from the games.

There is only one remark; and that's that it's so intense that you could use a break between episodes. What an achievement!
