'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' has been made with a lot of love for eight seasons. Or, as that two-part series finale so aptly touches on the feeling why you have come to love Nine-Nine so much. Unfortunately, the rest of the season is a bit like loose sand. Just like in the previous season, it is not all written as sharply anymore and the jokes do not always hit home. It also does not help that they somewhat forcedly hook into social issues around police violence and officers who protect each other. Such serious issues never really manage to land in the carefree atmosphere that characterizes this series. Fortunately, with the ending you mainly get the fireworks of well-attuned comedy actors. It is an eternal shame that we can never expect a reboot or spin-off with the original group. Without Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) it will never be the same...
