Because I was curious about this prequel of Z Nation (as far as you can call it) I started this last week.
The first 2 episodes were fine, but after that it gets worse and worse; with episode 6 and 7 as the lowest point. Totally unnecessary, unclear and meaningless episodes.
I liked the final episode, though.
It's all well and chaotic filmed (fits well in this setting) and the action scenes were also fine.
Only I got little sympathy for the characters, while that is strongly present with Z Nation.
Black Summer tries a serious approach that I don't think is entirely successful.
I personally would rather see a 6th season of Z Nation than a 2nd of BS. But if there's a second season, I'll give it another chance.

Very good series!! Best scary zombie movies. Normally very boring.. this one very exciting!!

Hmm, I thought I wrote something about this already, but no. Great series, so I'll be starting season 2 soon.
What I especially remember are the minutes-long takes. It is striking that I do not read anything about them because there are many and they contribute to the tense moments. In the opening of the first episode alone (if I remember correctly) there is a take of at least ten minutes. Maybe it is sometimes edited together, but nevertheless well done and it gives the effect as if you are there and that fits perfectly with this.
