Six new stories in which Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton play different roles in one specific location. A sleeping car from a European train. A student room that grows with the life stages of its female resident. A medieval hut used for quick witch hunts. A desolate office complex of a telephone helpline. A picture perfect home in an upscale suburb And, finally, a gothic haunted house where a butler and a medium seem to give access to the other side.
The variety of locations also offers a wide starting point for completely different tones and styles, where as a viewer you can never quite guess where the stories are going. The surprise effect is a bit less than in the first season, but there are still more than enough twists and turns to keep the surprise in it. It still has that fine quality that the parody is continued so consistently that it manages to remain both scary and funny. Ironically, the very best episode (The 12 Days of Christine) doesn't feature the two aforementioned comedians at all. So in future seasons they could very well rely on new actors.
