Before opening the most famous chocolate factory, a young Willy Wonka dreams of becoming a candy maker. He goes on an adventure. On his journey, he encounters a captured oompa-loompa.
"Dahl was definitely interested in taking Willy Wonka on. There are drafts that didn’t really go anywhere, and there’s a short story. He didn’t really write sequels, but this was the one book where he clearly felt there was more in the tank there.
"There’s an awful lot more Wonka story that we have that we would like to tell. I would definitely like to do more. And I’d like to spend more time in this world, and meet some more Oompa Loompas."
In the original movie, based on the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' novel, Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka to critical acclaim. In a new clip of the prequel, we see Chalamet's version of the song, 'Pure Imagination'.
Wonka cast: Timothee Chalamet, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, Tom Davis, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant.
