Weapons has proved to be one of the most popular horror movies of the decade, not just due to its scares, but for its humour, too.
The movie tells the story of a group of children who mysteriously disappear during the night, sending a small town into a frenzy.
It currently has a rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and, at the time of writing, has grossed $149 million at the box office.
Whether a movie is good or not these days, if it makes money we can probably expect a sequel at some point, but will it happen with Weapons?
It seems writer and director Zach Cregger is keen to explore the world he created further.
"I have another idea for something in this world that I'm kind of excited about," he told Variety.
"I'm not going to do it next, and I probably won't do it after my next movie, but I do have one and I'd like to see it on the screen one day."
What has been confirmed for Cregger is an upcoming reboot of the Resident Evil franchise.
Weapons prequel with Aunt Gladys?
Many fans are clamouring for a prequel to Weapons that focuses on Aunt Gladys, who emerged as the primary antagonist of the movie two-thirds of the way through.
The performance of Amy Madigan as Gladys proved extremely popular as she walked a fine line between scary-as-hell and outrageously funny.
Deadline previously revealed that talks had begun over a second movie, but would Madigan return as Gladys?
“It’s not that I discount it, but in this business, nothing’s real till it’s real,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
“I just had such a great time working with Zach and being inside that brain of his. That’s really the gift of how the movie came out. The other stuff has to do with all sorts of conversations that I would never be privy in and business things like that. But, you know, I love Gladys, so I’ll leave it at that.”
