Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson would be open to featuring at this year's WWE Wrestlemania if the circumstances were right.
The Rock is one of the most popular WWE Superstars of all time and was a key figure in the most successful period in the company's history, known as 'The Attitude Era'.
His popularity soared to the point where he had arguably outgrown the business, which meant a career in Hollywood beckoned. He would make his movie debut with a cameo role in The Mummy Returns and that would earn him a starring role playing the same character in The Scorpion King.
Over the last decade, he has become one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood.
He does still make appearances for WWE here and there, most recently on an edition of Friday Night Smackdown in September. WWE fans are desperate for a dream match between The Rock and his cousin, Roman Reigns, the current unstoppable face of the company and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Rock revealed that conversations had taken place about that match for last year's Wrestlemania, only for the plans to fall through.
When asked by Pat McAfee about potentially appearing at the next Wrestlemania in April, Johnson said:
"There's WrestleMania in Philadelphia, I'm saying that that's a potential too, so I'm open.
"But again, let's figure out what that is because the fans deserve something just incredible and unprecedented. And not only that, I always want to deliver to the locker room, and the boys and the girls back there that are working their a**es off. What can we do that can put them in a position to be a part of something that is a new change and era in this world of pro wrestling?"
What is stopping The Rock from coming back to WWE?
As The Rock is a major movie star and runs his own production company, the assumption among fans is that he doesn't want to injure himself in the ring as this would impact the lives of plenty of people in the movie industry if a production had to be shut down.
But he says that isn't the reason he hasn't been seen in WWE more frequently.
"Honestly brother, it's not the injury that I'm concerned about because that's just part of it," he explained.
"It's just part of the game you sign up for. You get hurt, we all get hurt. That's just the way it is.
"It's not even the schedule, because I can control the schedule to a large degree. Me going back to WWE and wrestling a match, it always comes down to the reason why and what can we create that's never been done before for the fans."
