Stage to Mesa City plot

"ROARING GUNS...ROLLING WHEELS...ROUSING THRILLS!"

John Watson is in financial trouble as bandits repeatedly raid his stagecoaches. His attorney Alan Baxter tells him he can't count on help from the corrupt Mesa City sheriff. Watson therefore enlists the help of US Marshal 'Cheyenne' Davis and his deputy Fuzzy Q. Jones. Just as the two arrive, Watson is engaged in a firefight with bandits. The mortally wounded Watson dies in Cheyenne's arms. Watson manages to ask Cheyenne to protect his daughter Margie and son Bob. Margie and Bob will soon arrive in Mesa City with a large sum of money to help maintain his stagecoach line. Cheyenne barely manages to keep Bob and Margie out of the hands of outlaws in Mesa City, and he quickly becomes suspicious of postal agency owner Tom Padgett and attorney Baxter. But when Cheyenne wants to question Baxter, he finds his dead body.
