Army Captain Tom Harvey investigates the theft of military gold shipments and takes a job as a deputy sheriff in a small town. The town is terrorized by, in the opinion of the inhabitants, the apparition of a gambler suspected of the gold theft. The gambler was found guilty and hanged.
